Default Can the company sue me for breach of contract?

Hello everyone! I was recruited by Company A(placement agency), was introduced to a client-Company C through an intermediary Cmpany B.
Company C absorbed me as a regular employee so I resigned from company A.
I signed acontract which indicates a non-compete clause which include the follwing:
-for a period of ONE (1) years from the date of termination of
employment , Employee shall not, for herself/himself or as a stockholder,
director, officer, partner, agent or employee of any other person, firm or corporation,
directly or indirectly:
-Use any of Company A client's proprietary information or MAKE AVAILABLE to any person, firm or corporation.

I endured over one year in Company A because I wanted to finish my 1 year contact with them.
For 1 year after my employment termination, I could not work as indicated in the contract.
My questions are, If they sue me, what about my right to find a better living?
Should I pay for what they are saying liquidated damages?
Please advise me on this matter..
Thank you!
