I currently work full time on the sales team for a company based in Southern California with corporate headquarters in Massachusetts. I work from my home in Chicago. My fiance recently acquired a position teaching in Mexico City. The school will help her obtain a FM3 Visa with a work permit. However, my visa will be tied to hers and I will not have a work permit for Mexico.
There is the potential that my position with the company will change so that I can work part time for the tech support team handling all email communications. Since I will remain and American citizen, working for an american company and doing all my work online, do I face any legal consequences by keeping the fact that I have moved to Mexico from the company I work for? If I tell my management about my plans, does the corporation I work for face any legal difficulties by continuing to employ me as an american even though I'm living in Mexico working online? I'm not sure where to post this question, so sorry if this is a repeat from another forum I've also posted to. THANKS!! |
