criminal fiance

I am planning to marry my fiance who is from (Holland) the Netherlands. The problem is he has a criminal record. He has a felony soft drug charge, which he did not have to serve time for or pay any fee. It has just been recorded. This was more then 5 years ago and since then he has become a responsible adult with a professional job. I am concerned it will be a problem when we apply for a fiance vise and is there any solution to overcome the problem or what are our options if it is a problem?
