I'm a server and I attended a food tasting on my day off. I had notified the GM that there was nothing I could eat on their menu because of my beliefs. During the tasting the chefs grew angrier by the minute. The GM called me out on why I wasn't eating, I reminded him of our conversation. The next day I was fired. Over the next few days I was contacted by employees who told me management confirmed I was terminated because I didn't eat anything. I worked for this celebrity chef for less than a month. In that time I received numerous guest compliment cards and met and exceeded all sales goals which were set for me. It cannot be possible to fire a good employee because they dont eat your cooking due to personal beliefs. Do I have a case against this former employer??

If you could prove you were fired for the religious beliefs you would have a case yes.
You could review details with legal counsel. |

Thank you for your advice. Since the days after I was let go I was contacted by employees that said they overheard one manager defending me and the GM clearly saying I was let go because of the tasting. A few days after that a friend of one of the managers contacted me, the first thing she asked was if I followed a particular belief, I said yes. Next she continued to explain that the tasting wasn't the only reason. Supposedly one of the managers listened in on a conversation myself and another employee were having outside of work on our own time and this was supposedly the reason they fired me. I quickly pointed out if that was the case why wasn't the other person involved in the conversation fired (since she didn't have anything pleasant to say about the job). At that point the managers friend back tracked and asked what I was planning to do, I merely said I was just continueing to look for a new job. That was the last I heard from the company. I had recieved guest compliment cards in the short time that I was there and met every sales goal that was asked of me.
