Default Physical Assault from my boss

I worked with my most recent company for over a year and a half.
My position I held at the company was assistant store manager.
Aug. 6th my boss trapped me in the office and would not let me out, and would not let me leave. I had done nothing wrong. I told her to let me leave and she still would not, blocking the doorway with her body and arms held up to the door frame. I tried to make one step forward to see if she would move, and then she grabbed my wrist in a hard fashion and squeezed tightly.
I did a self-defense move and broke free from her grip , although she tightened her grip and her hand slid all of the way up my arm as I pulled my own arm out of her grip. I also was yelling for her to quit grabbing me and to get off of me. I broke her grasp completely, and yelled, Wake up, I am finito!"
Then I gathered my things and left out of the door, patting my crew on their backs as I walked out, saying goodbye.
What case or cases do I have here please?
Thank you,
-Cincinnatian

She cannot prevent you from leaving but I am not sure you want to sue over that. It was technically false imprisonment --and any contact is also illegal.

I can appreciate what you went through because the same thing happened to me.

It is not easy when a boss, such as yours goes crazy, and refuses to let you get away from them.

When my boss went through my private papers, he slapped me, and then fired me.

I was saying to myself, "fine - get me the hell out of here". He stood right up almost on top of me which, as you can imagine, made getting the stuff out of my desk impossible and blocked my way out of the office, such as your boss tried to stop you.

I ended up calling 911, and when the police came up to protect me, they had to barricade him in his office to keep him away from me.

Should you sue - most definitely, especially if you are suffering from some of the same side effects that I am.

Experiences, such as the one you described leaves you "shell shocked" and in a state of constant fear from the experience.

Hopefully there will be some written record which was left of this person's behavior - I at least got a report from building security regarding the incident.

Best of luck.

I initially went to the police and filed a police report...heard nothing from the police on their own without me initiating contact. Then I finally got a call from a detective 2 1/2 weeks later informing me that I would have to file my own private assault charges. I did file them. Then the "warrants officer calls me today telling me that he doubts that the district attorney will take the case, and was seemingly non-caring about the case on the phone.
I am in desperate need of an attorney now and have no money left, just about. The whole time the owner of the company has been fighting my unemployment that I am entitled to and have filed for. The owner made mistakes on his end of the unemployment seemingly almost on purpose as to drag this out as long as he can. By the way the "lady" ( which I use the term loosely) that assaulted me is the owners daughter, and also one witness is her sister. So, I am certain by how they have been acting so far that the one sister will lie for the other one and so forth. This happened to me at a mcdonalds that I was assistant store manager of.
Anyway, if anyone happens to know of anyone who might want to take my case here in Ohio pro bono please let me know. What happened and what is happening to me right now is not right and not legal or lawful, and I need help. I am a single mother of two wonderful children who does not deserve to be treated in this fashion. the case would be in Butler county Ohio.
thank you,
-Cincinnatian
