Exclamation Job Language

Texas
We have recentlly been told not to speak any other language other then English. Is there any laws saying that we can't speak our own language?

That depends. If your on break or lunch then no your employer cannot dictate how you speak. However while doing your job that is possible. If your concerend your best source for an answer is either the DOL or EEOC. Compromise might be best. Speak your native tongue during breaks and English while working. This is not important enough to jepordize your job

Telling you that you can't speak your own language at work is discrimination. If your work requires you to speak English for coworkers/clients/etc to understand you then yes speak English in order to perform your job. But, saying that you can only speak English "at all times" is discrimination.
