Ohio-I work for a company in Ohio. My direct supervisor ( department head) came to work the day after the presidential election very angry about the news media coverage of the election. She stated there is no longer any racism in the U.S. and to make it historic simply because a black man was elected was stupid. The next day she continued with her comments to the point that another supervisor asked her if she was racist. She continued for several days with her "additude" knowing that I volunteered for the Obama campaign and believed in his message of change. On Thursday she began repeating racial jokes she had been sent I became very upset and told her i did not appreciate it I then left the office and returned a few minutes later. Later that day she again repeated racial jokes i again became angry and left the room. On Friday morning she and another supervisor were in the office talking about how funny the jokes were. I told them verbally and with my body language that i found it offensive. After lunch they both were in the office again and were telling the jokes.I said nothing but shook my head in disgust and left the office. One of the supervisors followed me out and confronted me saying the jokes were funny and not directed at me. i informed her that i was very offended she told me it was funny and i was taking it to serious. I returned to the office and my supervisor left and returned 20 minutes later. I was cleaning up my desk to leave for the day and my supervisors boss came into our office. He saw that i was visibley upset and asked me why i said i had a bad day and was leaving. He continued to press me and i continued to avoid telling him. My supervisor then spoke up and said in a sneering voice apparently I offended her. I left and spoke by phone later with my supervisors boss he assured me I would not have any more issues and no retaliation would occure. unfortunately my supervisor is targeting me everything i do is being called into question. Other supervisors have noticed her behavior and commented on it. I don't know what to do. Unfortunately the two supervisors are "favorites". Am I correct in believing that the comments, jokes and retaliation are illegal?
