Angry Not permitted to return to work with restrictions

I recently had surgery. I filled out the FMLA paperwork and sent it in. The dr cleared me to start work back on 9/15/08. I work for Wal-Mart. I started work back and then just today 9/18/08 I was told that I am not allowed to return back to work until the restriction (not lifting anything greater than 15 lbs) is lifted. So now I am out of more pay that I could be working at my job. Can they legally do this?

Are you not receiving disability or short term injury payments of some type?

No. I have not hit my six months there yet. I am not eligible for those benefits until the end of October.
