religion in the workplace
I work at a hospital that says that it uses scientology based teachings in
order to monitor their productivity and sales. They make all of their future employees sign an \"attest\" saying we understand they use scientology and they will not make us use the practices of scientology. Upon employment they make everyone do things exactly out of the scientology books, and policies. If we fail to do certain tasks, they will find a way to make us do it, or we get fired. They have had the labor board on them once before but the Head Administrator who incorporates the scientology based practices hides everything before the labor board can do a search. There are things from Scientology works of L. Ron Hubbard, to dianetics posters, but they aren\'t within plain site they are behind closed doors in a course room. They make us start off with a condition called Non existence where we go to each employee and ask what is need or wanted of us. And we different conditions and policies we must do. As well as our head administrator records are conversations and the clients conversations with out anyone\'s knowledge. She harasses people on their appearance after they've been hired. She "punishes" us by guaranteeing us a certain pay or hourly schedule and docks both. If anyone tells our clientele; whether its current, future, or prior employees she goes to the source to either fire, or figure out a way to save her own skin. She will do anything to make her money and keep her identity a secret. Is this legal to enforce all of this on us as employees? We are trying to work on a case but we want to make sure we have alot of information before we go forward. |

You could consult your nearest Department of Labor office to briefly discuss the issue with them first...you may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation...try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue; they may override the other managers. If none of these efforts resolves the issue, let us know.
