Unauthorized pictures on site

Someone has a picture of me and some other information of mine that they scanned in on a personal web site. The picture and the scanned info were given to someone completely different and they were never given to or intended for the owner of the site. The site makes allegations about me and others. The allegations are false and I know it's libel but I just want to know about the pictures.

What I'd like to know is:

1) Can they put up a picture (and other invasion of privacy images) of me without my consent?
2) Does it matter how the images were obtained?
3) If I can sue about it, who's on the hook? The owner of the site? The hosting company?
4) If I can sue about it, is there any other way to deal with it that does not require retaining a lawyer? (i.e. an organization that follows up on this)

They cannot use your photo if you object. You could threaten to sue.
