Default What Is FREE WiFi? (in restaurants, coffee shops, hotels)

I live approximately 2 miles from the local library which offers Free WiFi.

I have asked the library if I were to receive their signal from my house if am would be permitted to use the Free Internet Service.

The library employee had given me permission to do so; but I would like to know what the laws are regarding accessing Free WiFi, as I had posted a topic on a couple of forums prior to asking the library permission- and I was told that what I would be doing is illegal.

So if places like restaurants/coffee shops/hotels, etc. offer Free Wifi, is that not just an incentive to encourage patrons? Does it mean-When you are not a patron, or, when you are off the property, the service shall be no longer available for use? Certainly it is polite and courtious to ask for permission to use a service that someone offers for free, but is it necessary? What if you are not sure of the person/organization to ask?

Please provide some clarity on the Subject.

This is in Nova Scotia CA which I am referring to.

I wish to inform you that if you are using internet of some other person which is unauthorized then you may be held liable. However if you are using internet of library and they are providing to public then you have not violated law because you have already informed library employee and had taken his consent. You can use free wifi internet as library employee had allowed you to do so. You may further take evidence of the fact which employee had allowed you by asking such a question in front of some other person who can latter inform court that library employee was having knowledge and had allowed you to use internet.

Thanks for the advice ( if that's what it is)..... I appreciate it.

I had actually sent an email to the Provincial Library Site and asked for permission/ and saved the email to my Drafts. I hope this qualifies for permission.

I was told that I would need a Library Card and Pin No. to use it.... Which I already knew from going there to use it. I was also thanked for asking permission. I find it is a very courtious rapour we have built by just two short emails.
