I was contacted by email that I was a winner of 2010 fifa world cup lottery promotion. I sent back a response asking how do I know if this is not a scam. I received another email saying this person was a attorney that the lottery board appointed to transfer my money.

That is a scam--avoid. See many articles about those fake lotteries on this site or on the web.

See WORLDLawDirect - International lottery scam It is a scam--enter "international lottery scam" into Google and read many articles about it...they want you to pay fees and no real lottery does that...you may notify the FBI and/or your local police as well if you wish.

Hi everyone,

I was informed in the similar way as well and apparently the FEDEX delivery person is in my country now even I disbelieve it as a start.... But again will know for definite by tomorrow as I yet to pay £1,700 for local custom and tax clrance purpose but that amount could be also to cover the airflight of the dilivery person as I did investigate the expenses on getting a return from Nigeria.... sound reasonable to me...

My only conecern now is that the it could be a money laundaring so any idea how to protect ourselves; the victim from being caught??? or better still if any suggestion to nabing them for good.

Hope to hear some suggestions from this forum soon.

Just found this URL which might be convicing and also concluded the story!

i was contacted the same thing and they said that they would open up an international debit account in my name in South Africa. I wouldn't trust it though

I got the same thing in my inbox. You have to open it up in word, and I think this is because they don't want to admit they don't have a website.

I'm guessing it's a scam.....

I recieved one of these emails saying I was one of 4 million dollar winners to the African fifa contest. Figured since they didn't even know my name it must be a scam.
