Not to be rude, but why would anyone even consider one of these emails to even have the remote possibility of being legitimate. Its 2009, not 1996. This stuff has been around for a decade.
The old adage still holds true, "you don't get something for nothing", no matter how much we would like to believe the opposite. ;-) |

So, good people, if I was one of 5 winners of this so-called lottery, how come hundreds have received the exact same mail? Does anyone really ever believe stuff like this to be for real? After so many years with internet and scams, are there really people out there who fall for this? I, for one, wrote a pretty harsh reply to let them know I fell about being taken for a complete idiot and told them to f##k off....
Kind regards |

Re: Winner of 2010 fifa world cup promotion
I was contacted via sms (text message) stating quote: "Your mobile number has WON for you US$2,500,000.00 on 2010 FIFIA Worldcup Promo. To Register & Claim: call Mr.______________________ on cell number____________or email him on _____________and quote Ticket No: ________. Warning!! Secure your winning details from teh public to avoid fraudulant claim." Unquote.
I phoned him and he didnt sound like the English name given and when I asked him what I had to do, he said to email him my name and ticket no. When I asked him how many winners there were, he stated only 2 winners. When I asked him if this was a hoax, he said he can guarantee that I am a winner. I live in South Africa and he has a S.A. mobile number. Why would US be sponsering so much money for our World Cup in 2010? I sent him the details and dont believe that this is completely true but didnt send any bank details. I just think that if this is indeed a hoax and scam that these people are truly cruel as most of us have been struggling during the recession and to win even R10 000.00 would have gotten a lot of people out of trouble and this gets their hopes up just to be crushed. |
