Angry Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

My account was just banned today without any notification or warning, I have done nothing wrong and have and will not do anything to jeopardize my account. All they have to say in the email was that They have done a thorough investigation and found that I have been involved with RMT (Real money trading), which i have never done and would never do. THe one thing that gets me is that if they really did do a "thorough" investigation they would have found the I have had nothing to do with any of that. The most I've done regarding money In Game is transfer Gold from one character to another....on the same account and my Boyfriend who is in the same guild as me and always plays along with me gave me 1,800g to buy my Epic Mount....And I looked High and low in the User policy and nothing says there is anything wrong with both of those actions. The one thing that really makes me angry is that I am an honest paying customer, who loves to play, and have done nothing wrong and all they have to dispute is an email, where they send you the same generic pre written jargon over a over. There has to be some rights as a consumer to prove your innocence. You cant just walk upto someone on the street, call the police and say they stole your wallet without showing any evidence to all parties. IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!! I just want to know my rights. I have spent so much time in my characters...

You can actually sue if they wrongly ban and you have relied on the rules, spent time and money, and they have invalidated your account. You did rely on their terms of service and they cannot unreasonably punish you when you do that. Even small claims court could be used in some of these types of situations.

Default Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

hey guys...i got this email from wow a few days ago:

Greetings,

We are writing to inform you that we have, unfortunately, had to cancel your World of Warcraft account:

Account Name: ********
Type of Violation: Involvement in online trading activities
Investigation Concluded: 19/03/2009
Consequences for Account: Account Cancellation

It is with regret that we take this type of action, however, it is in the best interest of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game, that your access to the World of Warcraft servers be cancelled.

Online trading refers to the exchange of in-game content for real world money, and includes, but is not limited to, the sale or purchase of gold, the sale or purchase of experience in the form of powerlevelling, and the sale or purchase of honor points, reputation or items.

i was amazed...i have my account for about 2 years but havent played or about 8 months. started playing again a few days ago then with no warning i got banned.i never did the things they accused me of...
my highest char is lvl 33, half of my items are for lvl 20, i have about 200 g.lol...
i use an alt at auction house, mailing from my main items to sell at auction house and then mailing money from my alt back to my main char.
i sent them 3 email...still waiting for reply...

hope they reactivate my account

well, I keep hearing that Blizzard it's been investigated for their game exploitation and dis honest game practices. The problem is arousing out of the believe that they just want to ban accounts on the believe that you will recycle the sys. with an alias account... They know the business. And how to exploit it.. Law suit Blizzard. Get a lawyer. Get rich. LOL. Sorry to hear your misfortune. It's enraging the gaming community. Check C Net , etc. GL

Confused Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

I am a grown up gamer with wife and a kid, and I have been actively involved in gaming community work for almost 9 years, so I know about the importance of treating every ban with respect. As a game admin you might occationally do mistakes, and thus you need to compare evidence with explainations, and sometimes acknowledge that you have performed incorrect bans. As a player it's also important for me to treat other players with respect, and not exploit the game in any sense.

This was the mindset I brought with me when I started playing WoW 1 month ago (April). I was not aware that I had 1 month free trial, so I paid for a monthly subscription right from the start, though I later saw in the account management that this payment would not start until May. Then yesterday I recieved a mail from Blizzard saying I was permanently banned from the game due to online trading activities. Say what ???!!! I have not bought gold, I have not paid anyone real money. All the gold in my purse is from the Auction House, and 99% of the time I have played solo. WoW was kind of a lonely game for me, and the reason why I thought it was semi-boring. I would probably have quit when my 1 month paid subscription ended anyway, but now I am really pissed! Thrown out of a game for violating the ToS ????! I have spent the last 9 years making sure ToS and rules in other games are followed, and making sure the avarege gamer will enjoy his/her stay - and now I am thrown out of WoW like some criminal ?! I don't like that feeling, and will try to get my account unbanned. Not that I ever will play WoW again, but I don't like being pissed on for no reason at all.

The people at Blizzard either writing exploit detection routines or manually checking logs before making random bans must either be complete morons - or their bonus depends on their ban rate. Pardon my french, but this sucks.
