Unhappy Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

I had the same thing, but they unbanned me after I replied to them that I was innocent. I got banned again for "inappropriate advertising" and I never advertise on the game. I sent a reply and I'm not sure if they will answer back. I really want my account back.

Same thing happened to me.
I was playing just fine for two months since the new expansion
My time finally ran out, so two days ago, I purchase a card to continue playing.
And just yesterday, (day after I purchase a full 2 month card) I get banned without even an email.
As per their instructions, If I don't recieve an email, I'm to email them, so I do.
No response yet.
I call up the only phone number I can find that seems like it may help, Tech Support. He tells me "Sorry, but only Account Management can look up your account, and they only have emails, no phone."
I ask if he can access my account normally if something were wrong, and he says Yes, but when I ask what's wrong he says "I don't know, I can't look that up."

After being told to be patient and wait, I do some research to find out, more and more and even more people blizzard is banning seem to come up innocent.
Someone banned for reporting a hacker because it's "association with a hacker"
Someone else banned for "outside or thirdparty objects" which they have no knowledge of.

It seems unfair that blizzard does more investigations when they want to ban someone than when they want to redeem them.

Too many people seem to be wrongfully ejected out of their players chair because blizzard confiscates your account as their property because you agree to it.

I say, if blizzard wants to say that they own the characters when we pay for them, we should at least own the time that the characters run on, so if blizzard reposseses the character with our time on it, it should be considered stealing our time.

Is there nothing we can do? Blizzard see's it as "100,000 bans to keep the other 11 million happy" But it really seems more as a marketing ploy for more money. Surely this many people can't go unjustified right?

Back charge your recent payment to blizzard and any recent blizzard game purchases.

You legally have the right to do this. Once the report it to credit agencies simply mail them a letter, tell them the charge was fraudulent and you never received any products or services. They will then have to provide proof in court that you did receive the services.

Good luck, in rare cases credit agencies are horrible about this stuff. They sometimes stop sending you letters, yet keep the report on your record. Be sure it is actually removed after some time once you inform them of the fraud.

Cheers.

Hi my name is Simon I will sign up later......

I got banned for trying to log in when I ran out of game time, Also my Ip address was different than the one they normally see.

The worst thing you get with Blizzard is you always seem to deal with different people but in the end this guy called Vinh T took up the challenge and personally dealt with my emails.

I have been battling with them for 2 months to get my account back and they wanted my Passport for proof(like hell they will probably sell it to criminals).

Instead after 5 odd emails and sometimes waiting 1 week between replys, I took a photo of my security token (front and back) and got a little more arsey with them.

And today I got my reply after asking to be reimbursed for £4 lost during a skype call at 25p per minute which no one picked up and £2 for having to send a letter to france.

=====================
Hello again Simon,

Thanks for clarifying your request. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds on calls and postal fees as we do not have payment entries in our payment system for those. We have however granted 8 days of gametime on your account to cover some of those fees.

I hope this will solve the issue and hope to be able to help you again in the future.

Best regards,
====================

Woooho I got my account back and 8 days!!!!!!!

P.s Their legal department is based at their French Hq (well I guess that is the case for wow Europe),But I think they have offices in England because my old credit card was being billed in S****horpe.

EEK! Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

I think recently I found Blizz has gone softly towards account permanent closure, they aren't handing out permabans anymore, instead they simply give out 72 suspensions which does *absolutely* nothing, if you don’t believe it, have a look yourself:

Power Leveling Sucks | Banned Accounts | Powerleveling Site Reviews - News

Some guy buys a powerleveling service which bot their characters and posts his characters status, gets a measly 72 hour suspension, which then encourages another person to go ahead and buy a power leveling service!

If you check the other forum posts youll see that recently NOBODY has been perma banned for powerleveling.

From the emails sent both to my good friend and myself I have gathered, unclearly, that they believe we were using software to hack or exploit the game. For example, botting. From what I understand botting is when a background program plays your character for you. It basically puts the character on autopilot and does things for you on your account. I do not know the details but I do not agree with people using it and I believe it is a guaranteed ban if you are caught doing it. Because I still do not know exactly what it is they believe we have done it leads me to assume, I could be wrong though, that because of the length of time we were logged in and the amount of items we looted it flagged us or something. I do not know their methods of detection or retrieving evidence but I was on the entire time and not one person whispered me to see if it was me actually playing or one of those programs. I am just so confused and very upset. I don't want to lose my account and I am extremely unimpressed with their supposed 'service'.

Default Re: WoW Account Ban-Not Legitimate

ok folks,
I have been a WoW player for some time (close to a year).

I haven't seen this situation (yet), however, I was pointed to this thread from a search engine after reading the WoW FAQ (I was having connection troubles that didn't seem to make sense at the time).

first things first:
1. Blizzard Entertainment owns the game and all its content (including your account and info attached to it). they can do just about anything with it so long as it does not break local law.

2. if they ban you, they must adhere to their own Terms of Use and Terms of Service agreements (make sure you have read them thoroughly)

3. if they have kept monies you paid for the remainder of the service they banned you from, then you may have to sue to reclaim. In the US, this would constitute theft by fraud or instrument.

lastly, make sure you keep all e-mails and correspondence from blizzard entertainment.

If you have done nothing wrong, followed their Terms of Use, used only allowed "AddOns", etc. then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you still get banned, you do have legal rights (as stated within the Blizzard entertainment Terms of Use and Terms of Service). make sure you know them.

Otherwise, enjoy the game, don't do anything stupid and have fun.

They do have to abide by their own terms. It is not like their game is a free service. I have seen generally good service but I think they have a few detection methods that don't work well and inadvertently trip up honest players.
