Hi...hope you can help! I live in the US. I recently purchased some NFL jerseys from Ebay. The seller was located in China. The package came through German customs. I received two letters from German customs (not certified mail) stating that these jerseys violate Reebox trademark. They wish to destroy them (which is fine), however they also requested additional information regarding the purchase (name, company, quantity purchased, selling price, resell value, etc...) I do not know much...seller was on Ebay. They requested my signature and this information on two documents from a law firm in Germany. They wish for the papers to be signed and returned within two days or they will proceed with accordance of the law. I could be fined thousands of dollars for several jerseys and time in prison.?? How much trouble can I be in? I did not know anything about unlicensed or non-registered products. Thanks for any advice of what I should do!

See the adidas thread in this forum.
You can tell them the basic info and agree you will not sell--and that is it--you don't have to do more. At least it worked for me that way. |

Thanks to the poster- for the thread about adidas! I was looking for that information. Guess I overlooked it (and they think I have any idea about the validity of jerseys...LOL...not a chance!) Anyhow, at least I feel a little better knowing there are probably hundreds of people out there (being scammed) like me! I think it is a shame for those of us who legitimately bought "authentic" goods and now are being persecuted. As if we are million dollar corporations or something! I agree with the others. If they are concerned about the trademark infringements, then why not shut down the makers and main suppliers. If you search "wholesale NFL jerseys" to find a reputable US company, well...good luck! Even companies claiming to be in the US are really functioning out of China or Hong Kong. Many times these ship from overseas and you do not know it. Check out all the auctions on eBAY for NFL and NHL jerseys out of Japan...these people are selling thousands! Also, they want your money, but when trying to contact them about doing legit business they do not wish to engage in a contract with the "small guy." This situation is so very sad
Hope to let you all know what transpires!
