Copyright law problem

hi everyone, i was wondering if any of you could help me with a little problem i have

i'm from scotland and am just about to open my own buisness reproducing pictures onto canvas

i work in the field already and know there are strict and confussing laws on copyright protected pictures, i know well enough to refuse any picture that is clearly copyrighted

my problem is this, as i understand it that as of the late 80's any image is copyright protected by the person who took it even if it doesn't have any markings or copyright warnings,

question 1) is there any way of protecting myself against this?

question 2) my old work had a sign saying they took no responsibility for copyright photographs, i can't remember exactly what it said but is there any way i could make a sign like this and protect myself

You can make them sign something saying where they acquired the photo and that it is theirs etc.

You might check if world law will draft you a short agreement or disclaimer as well if need be.
