German credit card/bank debt collection statute
What is the statute of limitations on credit card debts accrued in Germany with German bank by US citizen? Debt has been passed from bank to collection agency and attempts to collect from resident in North Carolina. Thank you.

How old is the debt--in some cases it is now shortened to three years but normally much longer.
How much is the debt? |

The last payment on debt was in 1999. The original debt was DM14000 on credit card and from 1996? The bank has written off and sent to collection agency. Can collection agency sue? NC law says 3 years for cc debt - but does NC law or German law apply to this? Thanks.

German law applies and normally it is still due. You can briefly consult a German lawyer and they will tell you why...
but you can try to dispute the debt and make it hard to verify and prove. Guest from the UK-- |
