In the America, there is expungement for misdemeanor and some felony (my case is misdemeanor ).
the record will be expunged for public but it will be saved in somewhere in the USA government. my question is: after it is expunged, and i go to other country, how should i tell the people for other country. they often ask: do you have any criminal record? have you been convicted of any crime? or etc. how should i answer those? With American law or other country's law? or with international law? i want to know because i do consider to do the expungement. but it is useless in other country and the immigration then there is no point for doing it. |

Most state statutes authorize you legally to answer as if it never happened
And that state decided if it is an event or not, so that state would usually control everywhere |

Normally yes--that is the legal purpose.
--but check with a local lawyer if you are outside the US as another country's laws could differ, possibly anyway, about how you have to answer. |

I am just worrying that a local lawyer would not know so much about international matter.
and if he/she said I can say no and I got in trouble because of that, can I get back to her/him? but I will be oversea... I don't want that to become a international issue. is there any law that about international criminal record exchange or like "law translate" |

Dear friend , I am sorry to reply to you using this terms, but because your last posting, no one would give you their opinion or point of view, or even the legal advice that your are requesting, just because the terminology and the content of your words, would lead me to think that if anyone give you the advice and you requested, and because some other official or authorities wont understand what the law says, you will be mad, and try to sue however give you the advice, so in other words because your comments I dont think that there will be a lawyer that would help in this matter, just for principles of good moral character and professionalism , I whish you good luck for your re-search but no one here in this forum would give the advice that you are looking for
Good look and have a nice day |
