My wife is of German decent and an American citizen.....her father age 94 is in an assisted living facility in Nuernberg, Germany...he pays for his residence thru his German social security.....his wife is deceased and his will leaves everything to my wife's sister who is a German Citizen residing in Germany.......our question is this.....in the event my wife's father runs out of financial resources and is unable to maintain the cost of his residence and other expenses is my wife, now an American citizen, and not an heir to his estate be held liable for any expenses that may be incurred or outstanding after his death......it should also be noted that my wife's sister (the sole heir) has a legal power of attorney to make any and all decisions on his behalf once he becomes incapacitated.................................than king you in advance.....................................

She is normally not liable unless she signs in her own name and agrees to pay for some bill or service.
