Many articles here are talking about how to find good suppliers, but ARE YOU A GOOD BUYER?
China is a big country, but the business field is small-everywhere in the world the same. You cooperate with Mr. A and Mr. B, Mr. A might know Mr. B also. If Mr. A thinks you are bad, he might tell Mr. B. More importantly, being a good buyer means long term cooperation with your supplier. Here are a few tips on how to be a good buyer: 1.Communicate with the supplier by email, fax, tel., IMs: nowadays people tends to use email for most business communications, but let your supplier hear your voice and see your handwritting will make them feel more confident. 2.Send your supplier enough information on your requirements before start sampling. 3.Pay sampling charge for your products, generally, in return, the supplier will afford the delivery charges. If the sample is not ideal, ask supplier able to produce according your requirement or not, if not, send them an email express your thanks. 4.Discuss the production schedule before placing order-suppliers do not depends on your order only, they surely have many clients. Knowing their hot season can help you send them alert at early stages and maintain good quality products. 5.Visit your supplier at least one time per year or send them invitation letter to let them see how you keep running your business well and you are able to give them orders continously. 6.Quality inspection before loading container is very important-make sure your agent or representative have checked the products before packing-every supplier want to load every pc finished product onto container, by controlling quality you are helping both. 7.Check product quality within one week after container hit destination port, if any problems, contact the suppliers immediately listing container#, ctn#, errors (better send pics of defects), and your compesation suggestions. 8.Pay your supplier on time, if you have difficulites, send them a payment schedule and strictly follow your schedule-nobody want to have risks for export.
