Someone I know who lives in the Philippines recently asked me for help on how to get emancipated in the Philippines. While her guardians are not explicitly abusing her, they emotionally abuse her and when she had an emotional breakdown, all they could do was worry about the medical costs and tell her how ungrateful she was. She's tried talking to her mother but then the discussion ends with her mother accusing her of faking her state or just trying to get her way.
She has a real problem and I really want to help her before it gets any worse, but she doesn't want to contact the authorities and bring them into this, she just wants to carry on her life as normal, just by herself. She is responsible enough to earn her own money and be responsible for herself and she is 17 years old. She wants to be emancipated but her grandparents won't allow her and she can't move to get a lawyer to represent her. Unfortunately, I live in Vietnam so I don't know much about the teen emancipation laws in the Philippines. Can anyone help me help her? |
