If i place funds in Swiss francs what does the average European or swiss bank charge for moving the funds from one currency to another. say i want them back in USD this summer?

Normally approx. 1% every time you do it so you don't want to moving between currencies much at all if you can help it.

Some banks will make a deal if you negotiate with them and if you have a significant account.

And of course most do have multi-currency accounts where you can divide up your initial deposit among various currencies. Not sure why you are doing this or planning this.

Some banks have currency accounts that will let you move back and forth among a few designated currencies without all those charges.

You have to ask and push the issue in some caases.
