Australian person owing money

Hello,

My boyfriend in Australia borrowed almost AU$4000 dollars from me. He assured me he'd pay me back no matter what happened and as soon as he could. I'm home in the Netherlands to visit my family for a few weeks and he broke up with me. That's bad enough as it is but now he doesn't want to pay me back my money.

Is there anything I can do about this? Is there any way I could get my money back?

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against him (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to his behavior...

You can still file from abroad--you or an agent may have to go to court but try asking if you can appear by phone as well.

Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't know I had any rights because there's no contract. I'm gonna tell my ex-boyfriend about this and hopefully he'll pay me back without me actually having to file suit against him!
