life insurance issue, mother passed away - need advice asap

MY mother recently passed away at 48 years old! She had a life insurance policy that listed me, my brother, my daughter, and nephew and my step dad as beneficiarys, My step dad wont turn in the death certifaicate for some reason, i think its because my mom owed 30,000 dollars on a charge card and had some other debts, my question is can they hold or mess with my insurance money? he hired a probate attorney also, any feedback woulkd be appreciated!

No. And often that is outside probate. Get your own attorney to arrange for the death certificate if need be, and proceed. You should have the funds asap.
