Can anyone offer assistance! I was insured for life insurance from 1998 thru 2010.
The policy was cancelled and I never received notice. In 2009 I had surgery. The insurance was still in force before and after the surgery. The insurance company has refused to reinstate the policy. My thoughts are that during the insurance I developed the illness and prior to cancellation I had the illness. This was preexisting prior to cancellation can they refuse the reinstatement? |

I wish to inform you that life insurance is liable to pay the expenses which were incurred during the time frame for which policy was in operation. After policy duration is over then renewal may be objected to because it may not meet the terms of the reinstatement clause in the policy. You can, therefore, claim your expenses for the period when the policy was in force and which were not debarred by the statute of limitations.

If the policy was cancelled due to non-payment of premiums, or it was non-renewed for some reason (which they should have provided you), then they are probably treating you as if you are a new customer and can reject you based upon what would be considered a pre-existing condition.

Is this a temporary, or term, life insurance policy? It's likely that the term for which you were to be insured for expired. But the number of years you mentioned (1998- 2010, so 12 years), seems an odd number for term life insurance. Most carriers insure with term life in multiples of 5, so your policy should have been for a shorter while (i.e. 10 years long) or a little longer (until 2013). You would need to talk to your insurance carrier or agent that helped you purchase the policy to find out why this happened. And yes, if you did not test positive during the life insurance examination for the condition you are currently getting treatment for, and did not lie on your application, you should still be eligible to be protected under the policy, provided the policy is still valid. Look up large aggregator websites for life insurance quotes online if you're having trouble renewing your policy and need to shop around for a new one.

You have the right to be informed when your insurance is canceled. I think, you can file for a complaint on it.

A health insurance policy can be canceled (rescinded) if there are material omissions or misrepresentations made by the insured or member in the application for health insurance coverage. You must reveal any serious medical condition or treatment that might reasonably affect the decision by the insurer or plan to undertake the risk associated with providing the coverage.Even if the health insurance policy or plan is issued and premiums are paid, the health insurer or health service plan can cancel or rescind the policy later if they discover that the policyholder or insured did not disclose in the application significant medical history.

Life insurance products provide a definite amount of money to the dependants of the insured in case the life insured dies during his active income earning period or becomes disabled on account of an accident causing reduction/complete loss in his income earnings. The advantage for the policy owner is "peace of mind", in knowing that the death of the insured person will not result in financial hardship for loved ones.

What if they cancelled your credit life insurance, failed to notify you, and denied you a claim, even though the bank states you still have the insurance and the company is still charging the bank for the money?
