Long story short, I had my daughter at home with a midwife 8 months ago. They paid her for my prenatal and postpartum care, but are refusing to pay for the actual "birth." I have appealed 3 times, and all have been denied on the basis that homebirth isn't covered. Nowhere in my 62 page booklet does it say this and they know it. They are fishing around for reasons to deny. The last denial I received from them pointed to a part that says that if something isn't listed as covered, then it's not. OK...but MATERNITY is clearly a benefit, and the fact that they have already PAID her for part of it demonstrates this fact. Can they deny my homebirth claim because "homebirth" isn't specifically listed as covered? It doesn't have an exclusion for homebirth, nor does it specify where I must give birth.

Oh, and one more thing. Midwives ARE an exclusion...but they paid for mine after I appealed. I pointed it out to them that they do cover at least one midwife in town that I know of, because she's on their "preffered provider" list. She is a CNM (certified nurse midwife) that only does hospital births, whereas my midwife is not a CNM...but they paid for her anyway (so it seems midwives really are covered). This is in-house insurance through my husband's work and it just seems like they don't have all their loose ends tied up. So because midwives are an exclusion (even though they paid for all the other aspects of my pregnancy through this provider), would this alone be reason enough to lose my civil lawsuit to try to get the birth paid for?

Hi.
My friend's daughter injured in an accident. She is just 3 year old. He claim the insurance company and believe me he got the compensation from the insurance company as soon as possible. I asked my friend that how he got that either his daughter is 3 year old then my friend said that USA-Healthinsurance give the claim for any one how he/she old. I asked how then he told me that you take the insurance policy of any person from birth. It cover the insurance from date of birth. |

It may or may not. i know that doesn't help much but it depends on the coverage you have and who you are insured with. contact your insurance company, there should be a number on your insurance card. they would be able to let you know, or ask your doctor who will be prescribing the med sometimes they can tell if it will be covered.
