Default Homeowners Insurance Claim with Dog Attack

> I was at my boyfriends house where I sometimes stay. I took my chihuahua outside to go the bathroom and saw something outside. We went back inside the house. My boyfriend went outside and saw the neighbor dog. He proceeded to get rid of the neighbor dog (golden retriever). Took my dog back outside when the neighbor dog attacked my dog - obviously did not leave the property. My dog had to go the the emergency vet because it was over the weekend and incurred a heavy vet bill. Is the neighbor liable for this bill and where do I go to find State Law on the issue. I have tried to talk to the neighbor and offered to pay half the bill - but they dod not want to pay. Also are they able to turn the claim in on their insurance if it was not on their property. Any advise or direction what I should do would be helpful. Thank You = Note to case, this was not the first time the dog had got out of his fence and off the property.

Default Re: Homeowners Insurance Claim with Dog Attack

You have rights in the event of being attacked by a dog. You should know that you are legally allowed to file a lawsuit against the Dog Owner, especially if the attack happened on their property. Dog Attacks can cause severe injuries and those injuries require expensive medical attention. It is a difficult decision to make when you know the person who’s Dog Bit you, but filing a lawsuit is of utmost importance.
