lent car to uninsured driver

Hi there, i wonder if anyone can help. last night while at a party someone asked my daughter to borrow her car to pick someone up, my daughter was drunk at the time and does not remember being asked. the other person took the car and was caught by the police. he claims my daughter gave him permission, but as i stated she was drunk and doesn't remember. she did not know her car was impounded untill she was told when the driver returned in a taxi. how does she stand legally if he says she gave permission but she doesn't remember.

If she was so drunk that she cannot remember giving permission. According to my personal opinion she was taken advantage of, and the person who took the car did not have 'proper' permission to drive it. Purely on those grounds, I think she should tell the Police that she did not. If she did give permission, check the insurance policy, drivers using the vehicle with the owner’s permission maybe covered usually just the legal minimal.
