I canceled my previous health insurance policy last June. My new policy started July1st. I had a prescription filled mid July. The pharmacy billed the old policy. The old insurance company paid even though the policy was canceled The old ins. company is now telling me I am responsible for paying them back. The pharmacy had all the new information at the time the prescription was filled. Am I responsible for clerical error that occured at the pharmacy? To me this appears to be a problem that should be settled between the pharmacy and the old insurance company and then forwarded to the new insurance company. I live in New Hampshire if that has any bearing on it. If anyone can help me with this I would greaty appreciate it. Thank you.

Your new company should pay it. Have them forward the bill to them.

You can try to contact the company to see if the policy was active at the time - if it was, and you just now found out that they existed, you can still put in a claim.
