Hello,
where : Dallas, tx USA. I went to see a hand specialist for my dislocated finger. I provided my health insurance card and signed the forms saying "i'd pay all costs not covered by my health insurance" etc. I saw the hand doctor 16 times in a 3 month period. I was never asked for payment. 4 months after my last visit I received a bill for $700. All that was stated was 'balance forward'. I have no information from the health service provider as to what costs they have covered (if any) and what I owe (if anything). I wrote to the doctor 3 times asking for a detailed explanation of the charges. I spoke to his medical billing department (an out sourced one) and they said they would send a copy of the claims, but I have received nothing. Do I still have to pay regardless? I am worried that if I pay he will send another balance forward of several hundred dollars. Many thanks. Last edited by ukgreg66; Jan 28th, 2007 at 10:39 AM. |

He certainly has to tell you what the charges are for--in detail. Dates and times and services etc.

Hi,
i received notice the doctor has sent this to collection. I pay all my bills on time, have never had a late payment, so I am unsure how to get rid of this. I have read online how to dispute the payment so I have written to the collection agency to dispute the charge and included copies of the invoices (that just say 'balance forward $722'). Is there a way to sue the doctor for wasting my time? for anguish? for a ficticious charge???? thanks |

You may also sue him in small claims if need be for the damage to your credit and to resolve the bill.
