Default Personal responsibility before insurer's responsibility

I am wishing the insurance company to not be involved in paying costs for repair. Am I able to block the insurer's action(s)?

Yes you certainly normally can refuse the company and prevent their involvement.

Many thanks wld_team After several requests (matter has been going on since begiinning of March) to the claimant and their insurance company, I have been ignored. The insurance company has taken me to our Disputes Tribunal and the referee, also has ignored my submission. Presently, I am awaiting the result of an application for appealing.

Is there any statute law and/or common law that would support my contention?

Background: Insurance company has had repairs completed, without my knowledge and/or authority - their cost being $2305, (amount I am being made liable for). I obtained 3 quotes for the work (from photos) and all were under $1,000. The market value of the vehicle would barely be the insurer's trademan's cost.
