Default Hit my head and passed out.

I work at a hotel that has a restaurant and lounge attached to it. One morning at work I went into the restaurant to put up some large boxes of groceries that had just been delivered. We only have one large stand up freezer in the back so storage is limited. I started moving things around to make room for the new order. After I made a little room I started putting the food into the freezer. I was down to the last box and as I rose up, I hit my head on the shelf in the freezer. I don't remember a whole lot after that, just that things went black. One of my co workers came and found me passed out on the floor. They called 911 and an abulance took me to the hospital. They ran some tests and this is what was on the report. Concussion with loss of consciousness, cervical strain, and sprained right shoulder. The hospital put on their notes that I passed out at home! Anyway, the insurance through my company stated that they were unable to provide workers compensation benefits because it was and idiopathic injury. I called them and asked them to reconsider. I sent them two letters from employees stating what happened. I took a picture of the shelf in the freezer that is now broke from where I hit my head. I have had headaches constantly ever since this happened. My right shoulder hurts so bad that I have to put ice on it every night. My lower back feels all out of wack. I have been to a chiropractor and that helps some. I just can't afford all of the medical bills that are still adding up. After I faxed them all the paperwork that I was supposed to, I still have not heard anything from them. That was at the end of December. My doctor wants me to have an MRI done but I can't afford that either. Any advice anyone can give me out to tell me what I should do would be greatly appreciated. I am getting very depressed with all of this pain, I just want it to go away. Thanks ahead of time.

Default Re: Hit my head and passed out.

It is certainly possible you have a case based on what you say here; you should take a brief description of these events as well as your medical records to a workers comp attorney and see if the attorney thinks you have a claim; often you need to contact several attorneys to find one to take the case; the review of your case and records is often free and then they will normally take the case on a limited contingency fee basis if they think you can win; you would pay only if they collect more for you...
