Angry To pay or not to pay? This is the question!

Michigan...

If we were to decide 1/2 way thru the claim to no longer to persue our claim any longer, would we still have to pay our advocate?

I wish to inform you that your agreement will govern your action. Generally you can be held liable for payment till the time you have used your lawyers services. If lawsuit is to be withdrawn then fees till the point of withdrawal will have to be paid.

It depends upon whether the case was taken on contingency or hourly fee basis. And what the agreement is as to costs. Look to your retainer agreement for the answer.

Why wouldn't you have to pay them? I assume they've done work on your behalf. Would it be fair for you to fire them and they don't get paid?
