Default Car Jacking

Someone I am close to was involved in a car jacking. She offered a ride to a young mother and her young baby. The woman then pulled a gun and eventually shot my friend who was doing a good deed. She is expected to make a full recovery. My friend picked this woman up in front of a national chain store where she was out front for at least 2 hours before she was offered a ride. Does my friend have a case against the chain store and the security company?

Normally no--they are not responsible for that.
