Default What am I entitled to? I broke my heel working for Walmart.

Broke my heel (9 places) working for walmart. It was a temporary job (remodel). They are paying for all med. Its been 3 months of pain and no work. They pay VERY little not enough to live on, yet I can not work for another 6 to 8 months. The doc says I will have the pain forever. What can I do to get paid at least something to live on? I know get a lawyer but what else?

Hello there -- sorry for your situation. Unfortunately, we would have to know the jurisdiction (state) in question to answer in more depth. But, I can say you definitely need to speak with a workers' compensation attorney, who are paid by statute. In other words, generally you would pay nothing up-front. If you go to the WLD main page, they can give you a referral for such a lawyer in your area. Hope things look brighter soon. AJJ

I had a similar stuation and i can tell you that you cannot sue walmart, thats why they have workers comp. Once you get your MMI (maximum medical improvement) from the doc, they will tell you how much of a percentage dissability youve got and then there is a table that the state goes by which will determine the amount of money you will get for your injury. So dont try to get a lawyer cause he will take about 20% of that money which you will be getting without his help. You can email me if you like cause i think i know which walmart youre talking about anyway. My email is: tryme_509@hotmail.com
