Confused Help with Workers Comp

I work for a warehouse company where I am required to lift heavy items. The other day I picked up a box and my back gave out on me. It was pretty bad that I ended up in the hospital. The company paid for my expense of going to the hospital that day, but won’t pay for anything else. I had to stay in the hospital overnight and was given several medications. They want to perform surgery because they said it was in bad condition. The problem is my work won’t pay for it and I don’t have the money to do it. I know that through workers comp they are supposed to pay if it was work related. Is there a California personal injury lawyer I can talk to about this?
