Hi we live in georgia the company my boyfriend works for hi Husqvarnia a Sewden owned company. Well last month he hurt his back at work and he filed a report at the nurses station like he as supposed to. Well he talked to hi supervisor and he told him he wanted to stay at work but he was hurting really bad and it was hard for him to breath because of the pain. His supervisor told him he needed to go home becauseif e stayed then he was a liability because he could hurt himself worse. The way they work is you get points for leaving early, comming in late and missing work. Well for this day they gave him a point for going home even thogh he got hurt on the job, is that legal. I don't think it is but he is not a permanant employee and layoffs are comming up what should he do. He got one point for missing a day due to car trouble, a half a point for leaving because I had to go to the hospital because I got stuck with an Epi-pen and then the one point with his injury at work. We understand the 1 1/2 points but the other one just does not seem right. Also is it legal for them to not pay you for time worked. He has to clock in 15 minutd early to prepare his stuff for the shift and sometimes does not get out of there till 15 minutes after because he has to check his line after everyone else is off the line. They told him it did not matter why, unless everyone had to work over he would only get paid for the time worked from 3:30 to 12 minus his 30 minuted lunch break. This means he worked for 15 to 30 minutes that he did not get paid for, is that legal also. Remember we live in Georgia but the company is a Swenden owned company.

No the employer should not have done that.
You could consult your nearest Department of Labor office to briefly discuss the issue with them first...you may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation...try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue; they may override the other managers. |
