Unhappy Finger numb for life. Any chance to file a lawsuit?

State: Mansfield, Ohio

I worked at a large electronic retail chain who isn't going out of business, and while at work some other employees and I had to get a refrigerator getting returned out of a customers truck.

The fridge was on a dolly, and when we went to unload it the weight was more then expected. Two employees were on one side, and I was on the other. The two employees sat their weight down before I did, causing me to drop the other side and slice up my finger.

I had to sign a bunch of paper work that I have no clue what it was about as blood was pouring out of my finger and hanging down, but i think it was just supposed to be for getting my hospital bill paid. So an employee had to take me to the hospital. Upon leaving they clocked us both out, even though the other employee was scheduled more hours, and sat at the hospital with me for a few hours.

Then after 3 hours of wait at the ER i got 12 stitches, and was told my finger could be numb up to one year, or life. Well it's been maybe 3 years now and it's still numb. Also, I had to pay my own hospital bill for going to the ER, but not my numerous trips to the work doctor.

I've been wondering if I have any chance to file a lawsuit for this for some time. It really saddens me sometimes, as it's the tip of my ring finger on my left hand, and I'll never be able to feel my wife slide a wedding ring over it. So it's caused me emotional stress too. That and my finger is slightly deformed/scarred now.

Yes--you should see a workers comp and an injury attorney as soon as possible.

There are many potential options and even if you signed something that could be set aside under some circumstances.
