Default Workers Comp Injury

I severed the end of my little finger and have been off on work comp for several months.I just received a doctor release to full-duty this week. But the doctor says i wont be mmi or "stable" status until i work for a month.Once i am stable,i will then receive a settlement offer from the insurance co.I called my employer to notify my return to work date but they have been avoiding my calls and giving me short answers .My understang is if they intend to fire me or lay me off don't they have to wait until i am deemed stable and receive the settlement offer or can they get rid of me now? I live in the state of Hawaii .Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't expect answers here. Lawyers are too corrupt and greedy to give advice for free. You'll have to spend $400 to ask them a question.
