Daughter burnt at grocery store
I was grocery shopping with my daughter. With a full cart we had one last thing to pick up, a rotisserie chicken. Knowing that it was hot, I did not want it close to my daughter (3 years old) who was sitting in the child seat part of the cart. I was holding the container, one of the plastic kinds with a black botton and a clear top next to the cart. It tilted and spilled juice on my daughter. She ended up having 2nd degree burns. We have paid $45 in doctor's fees and around $100 for medical supplies. The supplies were due to needing to change her dressing twice a day with sterile bandages etc. This container had a paperboard handle around it and if you lift it the pressure put on the sides will make it pop up. I had to go to the grocery store the next day to fill out an incident report. I told the manager I thought the packaging was not good for something they keep so hot that it could cause such a burn. We went to where the chickens are and the juice was almost filled to the top of the black container portion which in my mind is too much. The corporate office called us today and said they would pay $50 and maybe medical supplies if we sent them receipts (which we did keep). I am a little upset at the barely paying for the medical stuff since she will have a scar for life. We will also have to keep sunscreen on the spot for a year heavily since it will be sensitive. I didn't want to get legal involved but their attempt at compensation has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. What are my options here.
