Default discrimination

I have asked my employer to investigate a sex discrimination claim that I feel is a serious problem, and they do not seem to be taking it seriously. What next?

You could consult your nearest Department of Labor office to briefly discuss the issue with them first...you may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation...try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue; they may override the other managers. If none of these efforts resolves the issue, let us know in the private ask a lawyer function.

Red Face Job discrimination?????

I've been in my field for over 6 years and am proficient in all functions of the job. I was at a large corporation for over 3 years than came to this smaller one.
I applied for a postion in a different dept and was turned down. I was told that I was not enthusiastic enough. The director of my dept told me I was over qualified for the job. So I left well enough alone. A month later was confronted by the director and manager and basically begged to apply for their trainer position and though the posting was down would allow me to present a presentation. So I agreed. After presenting was told that based off the presentation would not be offering interviews. The presentation was great and exactly what she was looking for but that not enough people knew of me in the dept. So they hired someone else in a different department to be their new trainer. Who has no experience or knowledge of the job but happens to be friends with the manager.
Than found out the reason I didn't get the first job was because the director prevented me from leaving her dept.

That is bad management but we are not sure we see any illegal conduct--it may however violate work agreements or policy manuals that you made or relied on etc. You may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation. Try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue; they may override the other managers. If none of these efforts resolves the issue, let us know.
