Confused new horizon

Hi everyone, Im not sure whether to sponsor a vey good friend of mine son as a F-1 student to the US, my concern is, if this child does not finish his education and decides to stay in America outside status can I be held liable for his action or in anyway be charged with any crimes as such?

Normally not crimes etc., but certain costs and fees yes.
