Default Emigrating to Canada from the USA (free advice, immigration website)

My wife and I would like to move to Canada. We are US citizens but she has dual citizenship with Canada already, having been born there. She's retired and has a pension and health insurance for life and I've still got another couple years to work to qualify for same, but our plan is to move at that time. I'm having a hard time finding specific information about what we'll need to do to move there, for example: if and when I can become a citizen, and whether it will simply be a matter of her sponsoring me, or if we'll need to maintain residency there and for how long; how the health insurance situation will work; how the taxes will work with regards to whether or not we'll be paying both US and Canadian income taxes; whether we can bring our pets with us; and details such as arranging for a local inspection of our goods we will be transporting (such as a moving van full of our possessions, including some firearms), or if we will have to let a border guard tear it all apart at the time of crossing. These are just a few things off the top of my head, and I have searched the Canadian immigration websites and just cannot find specific answers. The consulate is of course no help at all, so I figured maybe somebody here has experience with these things. I may have to consult an immigration attorney, but thought I'd see if I can get some free advice first. I do appreciate any help anyone can offer. Cam

I wish to inform you that for obtaining a Canadian Citizenship one must first have permanent residence in Canada. In this regard you will be required to first become permanent resident and can then take Canadian Citizenship. The residency requirement while applying for Citizenship is that a person must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying. Therefore you may apply after having met the above requirement.
