Default Asylum, non-immigrant visa: The case is still pending at the asylum office

I applied for asylum in the US and had an interview at the asylum office. The officer didn't make any decision and asked me to wait for it. But it's been more than a year already and the case is still pending at the asylum office. It wasn't sent to the court either. I already came back to the country a feared persecution from because everything had changed for the better and I no longer need the asylum but I didn't inform the immigration about it nor made an advance parole. What should I do now? Should I just send a fax explaining everything? And would it cause me any troubles entering the US with non-immigrant visa further?
