ESTA form and Visa Waiver Program question

Hi,

Regarding the ESTA formula there is a question asking:
"Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa or entry into the U.S. or had a U.S. visa canceled?"
I was wondering how should one aswer to this question if the visa denial has happend in his childhood as a dependend or accompanied child on the parents' passport. Imagine you were a child and you don't remember about these things and your parents have applied on be half of you.. are these records are also stored somewhere and checked at POE in US and when the person after 20 years now fills out an ESTA should also consider these thing and say yes to the above question?!
