German residency for US with a child with German National
I am a US citizen. I have a child with a German female National and we are not married. I await my residence and work permits and have had problems because the time it took to get the work permit. The Amtsgericht here in Germany is processing a possible fine for my time staying over my tourist visa. I have two questions. Firstly, if I am given the work and residence permit the fine would be something different and I would be able to work and pay off the fine? I am running low on savings currently as this process was started in May of 2008. I did leave Germany for the month of December 2008 for one month with my German Girlfriend and my daughter, to take a trip to the US.
