what happens at the first immigration court appearance?

CO. My girl friend is being detained by ICE. She has her first court appearance friday. I am not sure what happens on the first court appearance. I would like to know if she is able to ask for a reduction of her bond. Her bond is currently 10,000 Im having a hard time getting a house to put in for it. Other people that are detained keep telling her not to ask the judge for a reduction because he will add to it instead of lowering it. I dont know if the judge can do that. Also I would like to know if there are no other reliefs for her at this time, if her best option that would help her in the future, would be to apply for a voluntary departure? I would like for her to get into the country legaly in the future, and I dont know if the voluntary departure will some how put restrictions on that. Also in the future if there are laws established to support GLBT community I would like to marry her and live a relaxed life here without problems.
