do I qualify to enter the USA legally?
I'll just give a gist of the situation.
I have already processed an immigrant visa petition to work as an RN in Florida. I'm just waiting for the EB-3 to be current for my priority dates, so far no luck on that yet. The thing is: an elderly American missionary (Baptist) and his wife are sick with cancer (especially, the wife---advanced stages of cancer). They are our family friends and my parents are working with them in Africa. I've always been told that I can't enter the states legally anymore due to my petition status, but I would like to help them. I have been requested by the man to become his wife's live-in private nurse. He is willing to write and send an invitation to the US Consulate/Embassy to state why they need me and what would be the arrangements would be like. I am currently in the Philippines, just waiting for my immigrant visa. Is it possible to get a non-immigrant visa so that I can work solely as a private nurse for this couple without cancelling my immigrant visa petition? Please advice. Thank you. P.S. Also, I still have a B-2 visa which will expire on May 2011, but I have heard that I can't enter the USA anymore due to my immigrant visa petition. Is this true? I am also contemplating that I don't necessarily have to work in the USA. I could just take care of the wife. They are willing to provide accommodation and food for me. That's all I need. I just want to help. Any advice would be appreciated. ![]() |

You cannot come over on that B visa and start working...you may have to wait.
You could check with immigration counsel and review your details to see if any special exceptions or other possible routes may be available for you. |
