USA, My issue is in El Salvador with the death of my father.

I am my fathers only daughter, I live in the California. He passed away in El Salvador on Feb. 2009. I traveled to see his burial. Right after the nine days of prayer the rest of his family asked me to move out of his house, as it turned out they had started legal actions a few hours after he passed away they had his death certificate in their hands and now all of my dads possessions were becoming theirs. I hired a lawyer who after a year got me 2 homes, 2 peaces of land, and 2 cars (a very old pick up, and brand new car). the new car was given to the lawyer along with 3 thousand dollars as payment for his services. However he did not get me the money from the bank ( half a million dollars ), the state that pays of 7 thousand dollars for the next 5 years after his death. So i still feel like a was cheated. Oh and after his death, he was a person who would loan out money ( like a loan shark ) to people, so they came after me thinking that i had their home deeds, and i did not the family had ran sacked his room and took all of his paper and personal id's. Is there anyone out there that may have any suggestions to help me? I'm a single parent and i could really use the cash. the homes and lands are basically issues because i do not live out there. selling is not really much of an option and the up keep is costing me money that i do not have.

I wish to inform you that you may have money in bank accounts. In this regard if there is no Will then you can have orders from court regarding transfer of assets to legal heir including you. When house was transferred to you if at that time there is any court order then if terms of that court order simply provides about transfer of all the assets then that court order may be shown to bank and assets transferred. You may ask your previous lawyer to complete the transfer of assets process or alternatively you may hire a new lawyer with the condition that lawyer will be liable to transfer all the assets. If previous lawyer has not performed its duty to transfer assets completely then you can file a lawsuit for breach of contract by that lawyer.
